The other major branch of non-profit organisations includes political parties and unions. They are actively involved in political matters but to a certain scoop. They cannot fund a political campaign or a particular candidate. They register under 501(c) (4).The last group; the Political Action Committees (PACs) are the most partisan of them. The Federal Election Commission regulates their operations. They are permitted to support candidates. However, despite the restrictions, non-profit organisations play a huge role in influencing political activities that it is becoming difficult to draw a boundary where they should not cross in political arenas (International Association for Public Participation, 2015). Non-profit organisations advocate for issues. They start out as non-partisans, uninvolved in political movements. However, eventually they take a position in addressing political issues. They mainly concentrate on creating awareness to the public on civic matters such as urging them to register as voters (Fair Vote, 2015 ). Since the public trusts them, many follow their stand. They have become an agent of change in society, whether negatively or positively. Their presence in political matters is impossible to ignore. MoveOn.org is a non-profit organisation registered in two parts. One is a 501(c) (3) group while the other is under the PAC. The organisation shook the decision of the House of Representatives when it opposed its impeachment against Clinton. The court had to pronounce him innocent because of their voice. They used the internet to influence people’s preferences and eventually, they won. It shows just how powerful non-profit organisations can be, especially with t he right tools. Communication has gone so fast and wide that the internet itself can help
